  1. Study the Worked Example  for Binding Energy on page 153 (SL) / p.244 (HL).
  2. Answer Exercises 9 & 10 p.154 (SL) / Exercises 18 & 19 p.244 (HL) (*Remember to use 1 u = 931.5 MeV.)
  3. Read up on the next sections about Nuclear Decay, Half-Life, and Nuclear Reactions.

Answer the rest of the exercises for section 4 of the problem set on Momentum. Use the Answer Key below to check your answers.

1) Use the following document to review about graphing and interpreting motion. (Moving Man pre-lab.pdf)

Use the following simulations to answer the "Faraday's Experiment" worksheet. (Click on the image to launch the simulation. *Active internet connection required.*)

1) Use Excel (or any other spreadsheet program) to put together your data tables for the Physics 500 activity. (Collected data, Processed data) Please include a short description for each movement activity your group chose to use.

I only need ONE spreadsheet per group, so please sort it out with your members as to who will send me a copy. Please list down the names of the group members in the spreadsheet as well. (Make sure, though, that you each have your own copies of your data, and that you understand how to create and use spreadsheet tables with formula for basic computations.)

2) Answer the questions at the end of the activity worksheet individually.

3) Study Chapter 2 of your Hewitt text. Familiarize yourself with the following terms: motion, speed, average speed, instantaneous speed, velocity, acceleration, free fall.

1) Review your Excel tables from the minilab. Make sure that you understand how the cells/columns were formatted.

2) Create a new table with the following headings: Block, Density (experimental), Substance, Density (actual), Relative Error.

Review Coulomb's Law using Giancolli (16-5). Make sure to take note of the following ideas/concepts:
  • elementary charge, e
  • quantized (What does it mean when it says, "Electric charge is quantized?")
  • electrostatics
  • principle of superposition
Copy & Answer the following in your notes: (from Giancolli; show your work)
  a. Questions 9-10, page 464
  b. Problems 1-5 of page 465

1) Complete your data tables from the Measurement activity. Make sure that you include your initial inferences about each block's composition in your notes.

2) Write up a procedure for the process your group used to arrive at your values.

1.  Answer Exercises 1-8 on pages 1-3 of Hamper. Write down your work and final answers in your notes.

1.  Make sure you have finished reading through Ch 1 and Appendices A & B of Hewitt.
